My life with ALS

How I yearn for healthier days

When I used to run and be gay

Not be paralyzed by my legs

 Now, in time, my arms

Time spent on a machine

All the time, awake and asleep

My lungs raise and fall with thee

Supported by a piece of machine

The AFOs on one, then two

A cane, a walker,

then a wheelchair to move

How my mobility is gone

Life, which used to be long

Now, cut short with this disease

Was so full of life, now not

What is to become of me now
